Hello Language Artists and their Families!
It was another fun week of finishing Short Story Presentations and working on Vocabulary List 1. We have now seen most of the kids present their stories to the class, and students were very patient while we had to spend a little more time on it than they might have preferred. Students had to finish the EasyCBM testing this week, which also took up some of our time. Thanks for being such troopers!
This week, students will start making movie/book trailers for their short stories. I'm hoping this project will give them an opportunity to tell the story the way they see it, embellish, mix it up, and have some creative fun! We are also going to start a Peer Interview Project that involves getting to know our peers better, speaking, listening, writing, and editing.
Because we had to spend so much time getting EasyCBM done this week, the Vocab Quiz has been moved to Monday. We will talk about the words a bit before we take the quiz, and students should be studying this weekend. Check the Links & Documents tab for the list and the sheet students can use to fill out information about the words.
October means things are going to ramp up a bit - we're going to try to complete the movie trailers, Peer Interviews, Vocabulary, and one other short writing assignment before the end of the quarter. As most of you know, I try not to assign a lot of unnecessary homework, but students should expect to start doing a bit more work for Language Arts at home this month. I promise to stay mindful of the work students are doing in other classes as I consider what work to send home.
Check the website throughout the week, as new assignments and information will be posted soon.
Thank you all again for your awesomeness!
Ms. Spiegel
