Hello Photographers and their Families!
Thank you all for your hard work on the Jazz project. The gallery looks amazing and the opening last night was a big success!
I have been having so much fun working with students in the darkroom and helping students learn to process film. I am so excited about the work students are doing already! I have been impressed with student willingness to go the extra distance and learn how to do each step correctly before moving onto the next. Working in the darkroom is difficult and requires a lot of knowledge and responsibility, and students have been doing a great job of exhibiting that knowledge and responsibility so far. I'm so proud of students who are willing to help teach other students, too, so we can spread the knowledge around faster.
This coming week, we will actually start our Photogram assignment, and we will begin our first official shooting assignment, too. Students will be expected to experiment with shutter speed for the first assignment, which I'm hoping will help them get to know better how their camera works and how light is effected by time. As students gain an understanding of how the shutter speed and aperture relate to each other and work together to make the correct image, they will be able to more accurately create the images they see in their mind.
Stay tuned this week for Capstone information, 2 new assignments, and some tips on how to achieve the images we want. Students should have completed their first Image of the Week and turned it in on Friday. Because we have no school on Friday of this week, students will turn in the second Image of the Week assignment on Monday October 12th.
Thank you all! Have a great weekend :)
